The mind is not excluded by some human capacity. The mammals and some other so-called higher animals have a mind and probably exhibit a degree of learning behavior, but of a different order than ours for less complex and low-creative. Animal intelligence is much less developed than of the average person. The mind has to be developed and has to “cooperate” with the body by living in harmony and staying healthy in all the meanings. The majority of the population does not take this issue into consideration seriously, as they do not believe that it works. The mind-body connection is described in many religions as well, but in the modern world people do not pay much attention to religion and what it says. Consequently, people invent another material values that fill their “requirements” of soul. There are also many contradictive issues that arise as a result of mind and body problems. Some people start to value the harmony and balance in their lives only when they get old. This later leads to the interest in different cultures, religions and the search of the opportunities that can change something in a person’s life. As a rule, a person does not value the spiritual comfort until he finds something special for him in the world that is worth living for and that can give the youth back. Although the world becomes more and more complicated, there are things that remain constant- they are feelings and the mind-body connection.
As a fact, the body (Latin Corpus) – can be described as a physical shell of a living creature, often in opposition to its intangible attributes, such as showering or (self-) consciousness. Cellular material is generally not regarded as a body. The science that studies the structure of biological bodies, is called the anatomy and studying its function, for example, metabolism – physiology. “Your body responds to the way you think, feel and act. This is often called the “mind/body connection.””, according to Mind-body connection: How Your Emotions Affect Your Health (2010).
In living things, a body is the physical and material of a being. In the case of humans, especially, is has been associated over the centuries with the soul, personality and behavior. In some contexts, a superficial part of the body, like hair, can not be considered part of it, even when it is attached. The same is true for substances excreted. It is generally considered that a plant does not have a body. The word “body” is used several times in connection with appearance, health and death. In fact, the human body is much more complex since in this classification are not included the internal organs. Studying the behavior of the body is called anatomy, according to Mind-body connection: How Your Emotions Affect Your Health (2010).
For the balance in life a person has to have mind-body connection to provide the functioning of all systems of the organism. “While you are developing your body, you can be developing your own mind at the same time simply by focusing your concentration on what your body is doing.”, according to Highlights of the Mind-Body Connection (2004).
Nowadays, the environment has considerable effects on learning. “Fascinating innovations in school building architecture exhibit benefits of wide-open spaces in the learning process. Rather than using similar architecture as prisons, innovators look to airports for inspiration. Natural environments are more conducive learning environments for children as proven by examining schools such as these.”, according to Natural environment affects learning (2010). The environment and the atmosphere where the children are educated has a considerable significance for the process of learning. It is very important to ensure the best conditions for the children to get educated and the best ways to explain new material for them.
As it has been proven by the specialists in the area, good nutrition promotes health, and healthy children learn better. Also, sleep deprivation affects learning among children and does not allow them to listen and learn properly. And as a consequence, parents come to school and blame educators of the facts that children do not understand the materials and get bad marks. Educators want to achieve success in teaching children and they say that the environment the children live in, affects the learning process.
According to Classroom environment effects on learning (2010), “In fact there are numerous studies that show that when people expect to receive a reward for achievement, they perform less well than those who expect nothing.” (Edwards, 1994, p. 342). True devotion to the things that are interesting for the person determine his future and success in life. When people life in harmony with themselves and with the people that surround them, when people take care of those who are in need and when there is a mind-body connection, only then a person is able to enjoy life and to choose the best for him.
There are many positive effects of the environment where children are educated. “The positive affective outcomes from interdisciplinary education can positively affect creativity. Sampling, browsing, open-ended, varied topic, and thematic education are key words for interdisciplinary education. These outcomes are the educational strategies required for increasing creativity in the classroom.”, according to Gene Van Tassell (2010).
Educators have to contribute to the effective learning and proper learning environment among children. Only teachers and the parents of the children can improve the situation and to provide the successful educational process. “As educators, it is our responsibility to create an atmosphere conducive to learning and where students can find a sense of place. There are a variety of approaches, which most positively adhere to learning, when it comes to setting up your classroom and factors to consider like materials, storage and seating arrangements.”, according to Factors Which Affect Learning (2010).
All in all, the spiritual and material worlds have to exist in harmony and people have to look for their emotional health. When there will be the balance between the body and soul, people will be able to concentrate on the things they really need and they will succeed in life. “Ancient Greeks believed in doing everything in moderation. That means that they believed that the human body should never be neglected in the pursuit of higher education. They believed that our minds and bodies are not separate.”
